light weight boom was selected by MSRC for deployment from storage
trailers and/or containers by either VOSS vessels or from beach
locations. The weight of the boom allows it to be stowed manually
with a maximum of (2) personnel. The relatively compact size
of the storage containers makes for easy transport by truck,
trailer, air or boat.
The strength and flexibility of the Simplex boom gives it
the ability to follow wave contours making it an ideal boom
to use in an exposed shoreline environment, harbor and/or
other protected water. The boom can be towed at speeds up
to 10 knots without twisting or damage and is also compatible
with other types of boom such as Slickbar and Intertidal boom
which utilize ASTM connector.
